well today didn't quite go as planned. After taking apart 7 Mower engines i got one that the exhaust wouldn't let go of so i grabbed the angle grinder. Almost had out cut all the way thru and the cutting wheel exploded grinder wrenched out of my hand spun around and sliced my thumb open. at the er now getting stitches. apparently not grinder proof.

OUCH!!!      Hope you heal easily.    Rick

We need to move you over to the safety thread! Glad it wasn't worse. Exploding grinder wheels aren't a good thing.

7 stitches covers a good bit of a thumb!  That's gonna be sore!  Better a thumb than a chunk of wheel in the eye!  They have been known to go right through safety glasses!

While Steph and I were at the ER Heath went across the street to the neighbor house. Maw Maw Wanda wore him out.

That's not so bad!  I'd likely not even gotten stitches for that, even though it is definitely warranted.  I hate stitches, and will tough it out whenever i can!

I had just sent Steph in the shop to get me the pin wrench to change the blade. It wasn't chunked but it was getting pretty small. Too small to cut anymore shafts off but just big enough to cut the muffler off.  The motor slid on the workbench and the muffler hit the edge and pinched the wheel. Then all hell broke loose.

I wasn't going to get stitches but it wouldn't quit bleeding. It had a half inch deep flap. Doc wasn't really sure he got all the shrapnel out of it.  It was bleeding all over the place

Well I guess you have now earned some Makers Mark!  :smilewink:   It is amazing how things can change in a blink of an eye.  As others have said glad it was the thumb and not something a bit more delicate.  So much for being bomb proof!

I have a buddy who build and installs cabinet's.  He has done it for over 30 years.  A few years back he was doing and install and cut his index finger down to the bone.  To make a long story short he ended up have surgery twice, once to repair the damage and the second be fix it because he wouldn't follow the doctors instructions.  Today he can't really bend his index finger so he drive around with the finger sticking up.  Down here in the south that is a way of waving and saying HI.  Everyone thinks he is the most  friendly guy.

Seriously  I hope you heal quickly with no complications.

Sorry to hear of the stitches! Those wheels pick the most improper times to come apart and go crazy when they do! Heal well, my friend!

Here are the pics of the Bolens I took yesterday before I tried to amputate my thumb. I didn't find a serial number on it anywhere so I am not sure what model it is. Any input would be appreciated.

Think I might need a new steering rod

Thinking it may need a new axle seal too

And a new rim

Interesting hitch setup. (straps were just to lift it out of the bed)

I was going to level the deck on the Hemorrhoid and mow the yard today, but I didn't get much sleep last night so I didn't do anything today other than go try to find a pair of gloves that would go over my thumb.

Evidently everyone has giely hands and no one makes an xxl pair of gloves. I can barely get a XL on my bear paws. No way to get them over my thumb knuckle now. I guess I will have to cut a pair to get them on.

I bet that thumb is swollen pretty good about now! I think your Bolens is in need of a little TLC!
