I am not a happy camper.
This morning I got started on the Stratus. My back is angry so it was slow going. Steph was gone to an interview.
By the time she got home, I had managed to drag the jacks and jack stands to the front of the car and get the passengers side jacked up. Like I said, I was moving slow.
After nearly 12 hours. I have the engine loose, except for whatever is holding on to the drivers side of it.
It took me 4 hours to get the freaking bolt out of the steering shaft.
The rack and pinion has a 2 inch long shaft that goes directly thru the floor and attaches to the steering knuckle.
Somehow it had rusted. Since Dodge had the great idea to use a torx bolt, it immediately rounded out. I chiseled, and beat and tried every tool I owned to get it out. Vice grips could not get in far enough to grab it.
I finally cut cut the colt in the center of the piece it was clamping to the shaft. Then I had to drill out the rusted bolt. I wound up having to take out the front seat and carpet. Too much crap for a engine drop.
I finally stopped at 730. My back would not take any more.
Here are two of the pics Steph took Saturday.
5 year old with a .50 cal.
And this beast. i forget what he called it, but he said it had 100 hp and nearly 300 ft/lb torque. It was an airplane tug. It has a top speed of 27mph.
