Fun day.

but-dont-forget-that-the-water-in-the-pl

We got up this morning to do nothing for a while. I got online and saw a friend of mine posted that it was supposed to rain in SC. I looked at the weather and it said it would start at 3. We got dressed and left early.

We got down to the Greenville Airport and took a look at the planes. Unfortunately the B-25 didn't make it. The 24 and 17 were nice though.

I will try to upload more pictures tomorrow. Stupid internet is too slow.

I am not a happy camper.

i_think_therefore_im_pissed_coffee_mug-r

This morning I got started on the Stratus. My back is angry so it was slow going. Steph was gone to an interview.

By the time she got home, I had managed to drag the jacks and jack stands to the front of the car and get the passengers side jacked up. Like I said, I was moving slow.

After nearly 12 hours. I have the engine loose, except for whatever is holding on to the drivers side of it.

It took me 4 hours to get the freaking bolt out of the steering shaft.

The rack and pinion has a 2 inch long shaft that goes directly thru the floor and attaches to the steering knuckle.

Somehow it had rusted. Since Dodge had the great idea to use a torx bolt, it immediately rounded out. I chiseled, and beat and tried every tool I owned to get it out. Vice grips could not get in far enough to grab it.

I finally cut cut the colt in the center of the piece it was clamping to the shaft. Then I had to drill out the rusted bolt. I wound up having to take out the front seat and carpet. Too much crap for a engine drop.

I finally stopped at 730. My back would not take any more.

Here are two of the pics Steph took Saturday.

5 year old with a .50 cal.

And this beast.  i forget what he called it, but he said it had 100 hp and nearly 300 ft/lb torque. It was an airplane tug. It has a top speed of 27mph.

Those green and yellow tanks in "Heath with a .50 Cal" made me think you need a set of cutting torches. Hmmm I need a blast furnace and black smith tools.

Airplane tug, aka Redneck Cadillac.  Now that's an A.T.V. I'd like to have.

And today I was defeated.

my_logic_will_defeat_you_png_coffee_mug-

This morning we went out and got back on the Stratus. After a couple of hours I could see that the engine had to be torn down to the bare heads. There is not a repair manual available for this car. Thanks DCMA. When I saw the dual overhead cams and everything that had to be retimed, I called the gal that owns it. We were going to need a lot more parts. She came over and looked at it and said it could go back to the car lot that she got it from.

While we were working Emily came home. I thought it was an odd time of day.

We came in.. I went to check on Emily. She had a migraine. She wanted some soup and ginger ale. She took some medicine and laid in bed. About a month ago she yanked out her  cartilage piercing by getting it hung on something. It helped her with the migraines. She may need to get the other one pierced

Steph got cleaned up to go to an interview

Tim stopped by and looked at the car. He was dumbfounded at the sheer stupidity of the design. He agreed he wouldn't work on it any further either. The car has been wrecked and underwater. If it was mine I would deliver it right through the office window.

Steph left and I took a break till Heath got home.

After he was here I went out and put the engine back together. I need another set of hands to raise it up to the engine compartment. IT is stupid to have to remove an engine to replace a water pump.

there was nothing on this one to pull it from the top. It is made to come out thru the bottom.
