I was awakened this morning by Grahams Steph daughter, Claire, calling me. Diesel would not let her in the yard. Which is good.
Claire's car is in my yard as you know. And it was taking a bit longer to get it back together due to physical problems and weather. Well she mouthed off to her mom and to Graham and got kicked out. ( She is 21). She told them she had someone coming to work on the car today. I told her to call me before she came over. She didn't, so Diesel did a good thing not letting her in. Although, him getting out of the pen was a bad thing.
I made Claire and her "mechanics" sign a waver they if they got hurt it was their problem before I let them touch the car.
After a couple of hours they left. They were gone for a long time. I called asking of they were coming back today. She smarted off and told me if we had not lost the bolts they wouldn't have had to leave. All the bolts are in a coffee can. Anything missing is because they are too dumb to put it back together. I told her if she didn't watch her attitude I would have the police tow it off. She didn't say anything else.
While they were gone I took Diesel for his long walk. Oddly enough, he behaved like a perfect gentleman the whole time. He even sat for me. As sad as it is to have had to do it, Heath will be safer.
The car is finally done and Claire is gone. It is a shame she doesn't have any more respect for people. When she left she was riding the clutch all the way up the road, you could smell it.
This morning I was awakened by Graham. He told me to tell him when I was awake so I could work on his water heater. I thought about killing him.
He wanted me to go to Lowe's with him to get the new one. I can't drive Christine, I wasn't about to ride in his buckboard rental car, and Garland had not brought my trailer back. I told he he could drive Christine up there.
About 20 minutes later he called back and said he had a problem with the title on his wrecked car and couldn't get the insurance company to pay off on it till some probate stuff from his dad was settled. His dad died 3 years ago.
So he gave Steph his bank card and she went to Lowe's.
When she pulled out Garland pulled in with my trailer. We talked a bit, he gave me a watermelon. He went home.
I came back in and got my second cup of coffee.
Then the road crews arrived to repave our road. They went up and down all day long.
Steph got home and dropped the water heater off at Grahams and then came home. I got dressed and headed over to his house.
We finally got the old tank to drain and then got it out. It dribbled some in the living room, but not too badly.
The new tank was made a bit differently so we had to run down to Ace to get a couple of pieces of pipe and elbows.
In no time it was installed.
Then I came home and sat in the floor till I stopped sweating. Once I was dry I got a fresh shirt and we loaded up in Christine, hooked her up to the trailer, and left.
We stopped for gas, stopped at Grady's house to leave him something, then headed up to Statesville.
We met the guy who had the JD 242. He told me the engine was rattling when he tried to start it. It sounded perfect to me. I paid him and we left with it.
We were all ravenous so we stopped at Cracker Barrel. I have never seen Allison clean her plate of anything. She did tonight.
We headed home.
Carmel and Gunner did not kill each other, or destroy the house.
The new cat we got today is still alive, although it was hiding in the bathroom.
Hopefully I can get some sleep tonight. Last night was 30 minutes on and off.
