Whiteout!

Well not quite.

I woke up this morning to snow. Steph's school was canceled so she was still snoring away.

crash1.jpg

We went out and let Heath and gunner go wild. I knocked the snow off the tent building. Steph attempted to clear off the tarp over the chicken pen. My back wasn't feeling it so I came inside. It was actually above freezing when we went out.

My neighbor texted and asked if I could take his mother to work tonight. I said I could and after I sat around a while I went out and prepped Christine.

I cleared the snow on the truck off into the bed. Then backed it over on the driveway and shoveled some more snow int eh bed from off the driveway.

I came back in and had a message to call his mother. I did and she said her husband was dropping her off at work and she was just going to stay there. She works at a nursing home so they have a bed.

I made Heath a couple of paper helicopters. He has had a ball with them.

Heath did not have a proper coat that fit him anymore. SO we took a ride to Walmart and the ABC store.

When we got close to town we found a public works crew digging up a water main. No wonder the roads had not been scraped.

At Walmart we found a snow casualty.

crash.jpg

We grabbed what we needed and headed home.

Graham and Jenni came over to chat when we pulled in.

We finally cam inside. Unless it starts to snow again and I have to go out and clear off the tent I am done.

Is the parking lot being used as a wreck dropoff point?  Surely that crunched truck didn't drive there!

That is Walmarts lot and it is fairly close to the store. I would imagine it happened at the traffic light out front and was driven that far.

I am not having fun. I believe I have a pinched nerve in my lower back. It is causing my ummm.... male parts to hurt almost unbearably. With just one running vehicle and Steph taking it to work I have to bear with it a bit longer till something else is running. The went and cold is messing with my arthritis too. I am not a happy man.

unhappy-coffee.jpg

Last night Steph had to bring in a momma bunny who was giving birth. Both the breeder boxes are in use so she gets to stay inside for a while.

Bunny nuggets

And Heath dropped a car down the lint filter of the dryer. I used my new bore scope to confirm that it was definitely in there. When I pulled the back off it was in the fan. That would have gotten expensive quickly. Bore scope cost me $22.

Another day...

angry.jpg

Back wasn't quite as bad this morning. Wasn't good, but not as bad.

So I staggered into the office and sat.

A snowplow truck went up and down the road at around 12.

Steph said we needed dog food so we all trundled out to Christine.

I am not sure what the plow did, but he didn't clear the road.

IMG_20160124_135648420.jpg

The idiot in the white late 90s Ford truck nearly hit up head on because eh was playing in the snow. I am going to find out where he lives one of these days.

I made a guy a Walmart really mad. With this pinched nerve in my back I try to park as close as possible to limit my walking.

There were two spaces right at the front door. The guy in front of me parked in both of them. I asked if that was the best he could do and he said (in a thick Yankee accent)  he couldn't see the stripes (which were plainly visible through the light coat of snow). I told him he shouldn't be driving then.

There was barely enough room to park next to him so I did. I paid $100 for my truck. His Honda shoebox looked fairly nice. I had barely enough room top open the door and get out.

He moved his box over a bit. Then he began to list all kinds of reasons why it wasn't his fault for parking like that. (There was a car parked where it shouldn't have bee, he couldn't see the stripes, etc, )I told him that was  good liberal Yankee reasoning  - nothing was his fault. He got mad and charged into the store.

Steph took a picture of his tag just in case we came out and found busted windows.

We came home and let Heath and Gunner run around the yard.

I came in and collapsed into my chair.

A-holes come in all sizes, ethnic backgrounds, and with every conceivable accent.
This one happened to be a Yank, and for his poor upbringing, I apologize.

You are right about that. It seems that many Yankees who have moved down here have a massive chip on their shoulder. They spend their time telling everyone how much better everything is up north. I was in a church choir practice and a guy (yankee) kept going on and on about how terrible everything was down here and how he hated it. After about 15 minutes of listening to it I had enough. I told him that I-85 was in the exact same place it was when he moved down here and it still went north, if he didn't like it here he was an idiot for staying and he could go back to the promised land or he could shut his trap. He didn't speak for 30 minutes.

I know there are southern aholes too, but the Yankee ones seem to make you want to strangle them - like my neighbor from CAAnattikat.

Nothing going on today but watching the ice melt.

Believe it or not I am a classically trained tenor. Or I was years ago.

Well, in their defense... sometimes when you're very close to a situation... someone has to spell it out for you.
kinda like not being able to see the florist for the bees. or something like that.

Anyways, if it didnt really suck up here with the low employment rate and the winters, I'm certain some Southerners would come up to tell us how bad we have it.
:bigrofl:

I guess I'm a "breed"--LOL. Mom was from up here in South Dakota and Dad was from north central Georgia. I love both areas, but still hate winter! I suppose since I was born up here I'm a yankee, but I still have a love for the south.
