Free Snowblower just needs a little work if your handy with sheet metal

First picture - not too bad, a little rusty on the bottom edge.

Second and third pictures - Holy crap, WTF? They must have been blowing salted snow with this. I have never seen one rot out like that.

Still worth picking up for the tires and engine, though. I'd be on my way if I was closer.

Huh. Looks like they just mounted a GM power steering pump for the hydraulics.

I think $800 is a tad... ambitious.

Yeah, looks like a GM pump. I'd hate to be hanging on to those handles if the auger hit a root!

It's kind of worthless without the bit.

I thought this one was pretty good.  He wants HOW much for a cut up Bolens with what looks like a tent cobbled together over the driver's seat?  He is right though, you don't usually find a Bolens in that condition for a price like that!  lol...  He does have a lot of attachments for it, I'll give him that, but none of them seem in that good of condition.  It does look like the tractor has a hydraulic lift too.  He doesn't even know what he's got since I've never heard of a Bolens 1040 model before!  lol!   :rolling:

http://westernmass.c...3742876473.html

Here's some pictures of the rare Bolens 1040 tractor:

I guess he really doesn't WANT to sell it if it is priced like that, since he says he is selling it because he WANTS to sell it.  That means only if he gets whatever crazy price he wants for it will he let it go then.  I'm guessing he'll have it for quite a few more years then...

Maybe if it was the super rare 1240 but surely not worth $1600 for the rare 1040

Yep, that guy is dreaming.

Anyone else hearing alarm bells over this one?  The price might not be bad if I knew what it was.  '68?  '67?  3pt hitch?

My favorite part: "needs a tighter belt for higher speed.  had a looser belt on it for pulling a trailer."  Huh?

He's got it backwards. With a variator (and I'm assuming this has one), if the belt is too long you can't get as much speed plus you don't have as low a "gear" when it is pulled back to the slow speed setting.

That said, it might be worth a look!

... what looks like a tent cobbled together over the driver's seat?  ...

That "cobbled up tent" is actually a soft cab.  Those usually go in the $200.00 +/- range
