Once in a while I'll pull out the vintage Cory Vacuum coffee maker and that makes some great coffee!
Here's an example:

I've heard of Melitta, but never had it. Is it kind of like chicory coffee?
No Rich it's not a chicory type coffee. It's 100% arabica
For chicory type coffee I'll brew French Market brand, it made in New Orleans. Good stuff, my in laws buy it by the case. And always leave us a few lbs when they come up to visit from Florida.

As a total percolator coffee freak (BTW, this week the medical profession sez that coffee is good for you, stand by next week for the 180º opinion!) I doubled my coffee pleasure when I stopped using the paper filters in the basket. Oils from brewed coffee, especially brewing smaller 12 cup amounts, contain much of the flavor which you toss into the trash. If you feel faint about ingesting a couple grounds... try tea and make sure to crook that ittybitty little finger when you're sipping!
I do believe I've been called a wuss !! : )
My programmable coffee pot can't be used without filters, or there would be more then "a couple grounds" in it.
And I ain't got no time to wait for coffee to brew, it's ready and piping hot at 6am everyday.
Get up, pee, grab coffee and head to the back porch for a rush of caffeine and nicotine. : )
U can watch your percolator percolate, I'll be a drinking my sissy stuff. : )

I want to try coffee from a vacuum pot. I have been told that is the best cup of coffee. I like the gasket-less design of the Cory. I occasionally pull out the french press, it makes a nice cup of coffee.

I have been spoiled by my Bunn. 3 minutes to coffee time. Wake up, make coffee, go pee, get dressed and coffee!!!
When my Bunn goes, I will be very depressed. I love mine too.
BTW, a 1/2 pot only takes 90 seconds.
