I just got back from Melitta's semi annual warehouse coffee sale !!

www.melitta.com

If you've never heard of it, it's good stuff !! I've been drinking it for many years. Actually I mix it 50/50 with Dunkin Donuts coffee that I buy in 2.5 lb bags at BJs.

You can't beat the warehouse prices, it's almost 1/2 of what it sells for in the stores. Filters are cheap too.

54 cans of coffee and 500 filters. That should hold us for a month or two.

I have an old single-cup Melitta Travel-Mate coffee maker that I absolutely LOVE!!! I've used it with Gevalia coffee... Seems like I originally ordered it from Gevalia.....makes a GREAT cup of joe! I bet Melitta coffee would be very good.

Never heard of it either.

This is from german Manager Magazin, you see there, they are big:

Im Jahr 2003 erwirtschafteten die rund 3700 Beschäftigten des weltweit agierenden Konzerns einen geschätzten Bruttoumsatz von über 1,1 Milliarden Euro.

1,1 Milliarden Euro was that time nearly 1.65 Billion Dollars business volume worldwide with 3700 employees.

These are Melitta and her filter system, a brass can, the holes made w/ nails and a blotting paper (Löschpapier) from her son. And an excellent idea! images.jpg

As a total percolator coffee freak (BTW, this week the medical profession sez that coffee is good for you, stand by next week for the 180º opinion!) I doubled my coffee pleasure when I stopped using the paper filters in the basket. Oils from brewed coffee, especially brewing smaller 12 cup amounts, contain much of the flavor which you toss into the trash. If you feel faint about ingesting a couple grounds... try tea and make sure to crook that ittybitty little finger when you're sipping!:D
