A fella posted this on one of the Bolens Yahoo groups:

Hello friends, I'm new to the post but I love my Bolens Tractor.
I have 1 big frame Bolens, but the other day I had a chance to buy
a Bolens tractor with a Ford Inline 4 cylinder in it. The owner said
that there was only like 240 of these tractors made
. It looks factory
from what I can tell, except for the Blue ford paint. The owner says its the
same engine that Ford used in there Pinto cars. I just cant find any info that
says this is correct. If it is I think its a heck
of a fine, But if its alot of junk that someone put throwed together
Its not worth the big money there asking. Thanks for you time

Bold is mine.

Sounds to me like someone is trying to blow some smoke with that claim.

I've never seen one in a Bolens or any other garden tractor. I have seen the 1600 CC Ford industrial(and yes the 1600 was the original power for ford pintos, though there are a lot more of the 2000 & 2300's found) used in a number of skidloaders and I think in some forklifts. My Father in law had one in a case skidloader and his brother had one in a Gehl skidloader. They made a very reliable little power plant, smooth running and low maintainence.

The Bolens compacts I've seen have had Iseki engines. Some as big as 29hp. Maybe they made some even larger ones with a Ford engine who knows. Or maybe it's just a Bolens hood on a Ford tractor

Here is the link. It is listed as a Ford but shows a Bolens rear end?

I saw it a couple of days ago, but a google search on Ford gt 's did not find any thing to confirm its existence.

I cant tell if its factory or not but I wish I had $700 to throw away. I think its built on a bolens frame but I think its a custom built. I see no way for it to power the mower deck.

I think that would make a decent working machine. That motor in skid loaders was rated around 30 hp . It was used in the 642 bobcat and rated at 32 hp. i suspect the hydros in the bigger gts would handle that. the power pulses would be less than a similar sized diesel.

It may not be stock, but it looks well done. I don't think $700 is all that much for it.
