I was talking with an oldtimer this aft, while on my weekly run to the dump.
We talked about this, that and the other, and then about the weather, and what
the winter might bring.
He said, "It's going to be a hard, cold one, once it kicks in. This fall has been the same, as
back in 68' ".

For what it's worth.

I was obtaining all my nutrition through a nipple in '68!

I'll enjoy watching this one from the sidelines.

I don't know, but I'll ask him if he's at the dump on Sunday.

I would think, if it pans out, as he says, that would mean plenty
of cold air out of the north, and that would mean lake affect snow
for you.

Well, it looks like the victim is going to be on the ice, before the new year.

I was a wee one watching the nightly news with my grandfather in 68. We were both watching Kenny in the rain forest. He never missed the footage each night.

Was that him in all those Dept. of Defense news reels, washing his feet in a mud puddle while eating beanie weenie C rations sipping on a 33 beer?

I went and took a look at the pond today. It's starting to look safe enough.

If this cold north wind keeps up, with
very little snow cover, the game will begin by the end of the week. After the Christmas hub bub is over, Doug (DH1)
is going to try to get up and give me a hand towing the victim out on to the ice.

Once that happens, we'll open a thread over in the "Site Supporters" forum, and start taking
your entries.

So, if any of you guys/gals out there, have been thinking about becoming a Site Supporter, maybe
nows the time to buy yourself a Christmas present.
Become a site supporter, help support this great site, and join in this fun little amusement.

I went to check the ice late yesterday, as Doug and i where going to plant the tractor

out there today.

One swing of the axe, and it went through.

So, that's off for today.

The forecast looks promising, so, maybe by Monday.
