That one looks to be worth the price imo. Nice package.

I'm taking a look at this 1225 tomorrow. Any advice? Also - does the price seem fair?

Thanks

If $850 seems high - does anyone have a suggestion for a reasonable offer?

Thanks

As many say, it's only worth what one will pay for it. If you feel it's high, offer him $400, after he slugs you in the face, ask what he feels is fair and work out a price. ;)

I wouldn't make a low offer of $400 - but because I'm not sure if $850 is high or fair I'm looking for price/value advice from Bolens afficanados who know more about these tractors than I do.

From the pictures the tractor looks to be in very good condition.

The current owner said it has been largely unused the last decade or so & before that it was mostly used to do some winter snow plowing.

Have a look around on the forum here and google for what Bolens that same model sell by themselves, keep in mind condition. Then look at what attachments and tractors with attachments sell for and get a better idea there while you wait for others to chime in.

Personally, I like the Bolens, always wanted one. It looks clean and the plow doesn't look beat to hell. Same with the thrower. The cart I'd price at $100, thrower $200ish plow $100, and the tractor I've seen sell locally in worse condition for $200-300.

Not a Bolens guy but looks like a nice setup. I would think the gt is worth $300-350. I would give $100 maybe more for the trailer if it is as good of shape as it looks. Down here snowblowers are not as valuable, maybe $150, then another $100 for the plow. That's $650 on the low side upto $700. I look at most deals as how bad can I get hurt if I have to resale it tomorrow. So check out the going rates on the implements in your area.
Need to see how it runs, does smoke when running. Search this model in the Bolens section to see what else you can learn.
I would think if he has kept it inside and all the implements have been taken care of. It is worth more NOT to have to do lot of work to it, in order to use it. Good luck!

Also just went back and looked at the ad, no mower deck, if you plan to use it as a mower, that is probably another $50 to $100, again the Bolens guys would have a better idea of the cost of these decks, could be higher.

seeing the blower, snow plow and chains - don't forget to ask for wheel weights
(although - like me - they are probably on another GT and not available)

I looked at the tractor over the weekend and ended up buying it for the asking price. I could have haggled a bit and maybe got it for less - but since it was in very good shape, has been well maintainned, and ran well, I decided not to. The current owner has had it since 1979 and he said he was hesistant to sell it but since he really no longer has a use for it so he decided it was time to sell.

My goal is to have a reliable tractor that I can leave at a property I have in southern VT so that I can use it for snow removal - I think this 1225 will do well for that purpose. I'll let post how it works out after we get some snow.
