I just saw a great one in an ad for a Craftsman lawn tractor. The ad said "air raider included".

I have a pretty wide vocabulary, but for those like me who have never heard of this word before:

malapropism-
mal·a·prop·ism (m l -pr p- z m). n. 1. Ludicrous misuse of a word, especially by
confusion with one of similar sound. 2. An example of such misuse.

Craigslist is full of them. Bad spelling, bad grammar, malapropisms galore!

Instead of Farmall tractors, I have seen Farm Haul.

To involve the lungs in a bad malapropism or not to involve the lungs - that is the question . ( sigh )

Bad spelling, grammar and punctuation is everywhere. My theory is text language bleeding over into the rest of the world. The one's I have difficulty reading is threads or posts on forums w/ no capitals, punctuation or paragraphs.Just one loooong mostly poorly spelled sentence.
I've reached the age I sometimes have to do spell check or drag out the old dictionary myself!! And I'm sometimes not sure about some of my punctuation. I threw this paragraph in so I won't be accused of throwing stones in a glass house,LOL!!

Not a malapropism but a short cut that bugs me is when people say "My Bad" when they make a mistake. I don't mean using it as short hand when on line or texting, I mean in a public setting during conversation. It just sounds cryptic and out of place.

Edit - my examples were just poor spelling, etc., not malapropisms.

My bad! :rolling:

Can a malapropism also be a non sequiter?

Yeah, I hate it too. It always sounds insincere!
