Morning,
Is the starter motor on a 12 HP Tecumseh used on any thing else ? Or is it only found here ? Thanks. sometimes when it is cold it "squeals" a little connections are clean and tight battery is new.Going to keep my eye out for another one if I can, that and a 42 "deck. Always something eh ? Cheers Mike

The squeal could just be a sticky bendix. If it is not operating properly, the sqeal could turn into a loud clatter followed by a bang or pop. A good cleaning might help

The squeal may be a set of dry bushings. Might be best to take that apart and lube everything up a little.
Remember, this is back when stuff was meant to be repaired. Just watch for the springs when you pull the brushes cap off.
