The answer to the question "WHY?" is pretty simple. Because you can.

If you owned some old snowmobile that had a smashed fiberglass cowling and now it was hardly worth anything but it still ran pretty well, doesn't this make a perfect project for an attention-getting sled? Old Deere LT's with blown hydros in them aren't hard to find nor are they a rare, endangered species that should be restored for posterity.

All I see here is one guy's ingenuity at taking two pieces of junk and bonding them together to make a fun item that will cause people to say "Now why didn't I think of that?"

With some of my projects the reason why is just because I wanted to see if I could build it! I think the snowmobile looks pretty good and it sure is different! Thanks for posting the pics and video!

That was a neat idea. Too bad he does not finish up now and add a 3 ph and attachment of some kind!
