Def a Sears. The rear hitchplate and dash are dead giveaways.

Yep, it's a Roper (or a Sears with replaced rear fenders)
That would be a Teccy engine, not a Kohler. Might be better to find a Kohler, save you some potential issues.

MF's have Tec engines too and are the same. Usually the ignitions go bad and are all sealed up and expensive to find, even used. There is a web site with mods that can be made to system to revive them. OR, can send to guy and he will mod them. Best to join the Yahoo MF site for that link, I don't have it now. You didn't mention what the problems were with MF, but betting spark was it???

So I actually broke down and picked up a re-power engine :)

18HP Kohler Command going to be going in this winter!! Stay tuned for pics :)
