This is a different tractor attachment.

Homelite lawn revitalizer made by Simplicity/Allis Chalmers for the Homelite T16 (Allis Chalmers made unit not the Simplicity version) garden tractor.

I've got one similar that came with my 3012 Simplicity. What is it for? Dethatching?

I'm thinking that it's a powered lawn slitter.

This is what a dethatcher looks like:

What do you gain by slitting the lawn?

It just a form of aerating. Helps a lawn, especially one that is pretty well compacted, to 'breath', and lets rain soak in.

Some aerators are setup to drop seed and/or fertilizer as well.

It's a de-thatcher. I would grabbed that one quick if shipping was offered or if I was off from work.

Also, someone modified the top link attachment point.

Looks like it would leave a lot behind with as big a space as there is between the 'blades'.

It certainly doesn't appear to cover the area under it like the EZ-Rake one in my pic.

Auction ended with a last bid of $105.26, which didn't meet his reserve.

Maybe you will get another shot at it.

Looks like a rototiller with the tines all worn off!
