Worked 3 hours on the transaxle today, and FINALLY got it together right! I had taken pics of the inside for reference in putting it together, but for the life of me I can't find them. The Bush Hog manual wasn't a lot of help when it comes to getting everything back into place. Finally found a JD212 manual that better showed all the parts arrangements. Just have to go to John Deere & get a few seals which go in from the outside, then it will be ready to prep for paint.

Here's pics of the Peerless 2300 series transaxle I got back together yesterday, except I still have to put the one axle tube & hub back on. Plus pics of more parts I got under primer today.

Coming right along. It's nice you have those valuable JD's there to donate parts to the project. I knew you had some green blood in you somewhere. :poke: :smilewink:

Good to hear you are making headway on this one. Can't wait to see it finished.

It will have a JD110 variable pulley set (OE black), and some seals from the JD dealership, but there will NOT be a single drop of green paint on this machine! I don't even think there is a green wire in the OE wiring harness. :smilewink: I also had to order a replacement wheel hub, as one of mine was busted up bad, presumably from someone trying to use a puller to remove it. The replacement was off a Wheel Horse, so still a RED tractor part.

Just a few minutes shop time today. One or all of the former owners of this must have got a new drill, as they popped about 10 various holes into the dash tower, plus cut a slot for a standard style throttle lever. I cut a piece of metal to fit the slot hole, and wire welded it in place from the back side. Then I used a piece of brass as a backer & weld filled all the holes. Sorry, was raining, so didn't take the camera out there.
