Thanks Will I will have a look at that when I get going with mine for real.
I noticed on mine with the mid mounted mower fitted it is very awkward to climb on, there is just no where to put your feet. So I can see how the Mudguards get used as a support/handle to aid mounting

The Green Elf has made its way to Newcastle :D so I will collect it on monday, must remember to take the camera with me!

John

I wonder if the owner of that Elf realises the amount of time he has made me (and probably Will) search for our own Elf's after seeing it on Google images?

I was doing some reading/searching, and came across this info.

Reduction Hubs that you installed on the hex axles, for rototilling.
They reduced your speed to 1/3 of spec'd speeds. I have only found mention of them twice in
European GT forums, and no pictures.

I got the backrest and light panel (or whatever it's called) built yesterday. I'm waiting for the lights
to arrive, so I can make up the brackets and weld them on. Also need to drill holes for those
reflectors, and wires to the lights. Last pic is John's OE light panel.

I believe they were used with the rotovators and are extremely rare, I spoke to a guy at a show who said he was lucky when he bought his Gutbrod it came with them fitted. UK eBay has this 1030 for sale with strange looking hubs are they reduction hubs?

I would say that is exactly what they are. Notice on the right side they have the halves pinned to stop the reduction action, and if you zoom in on the left, the locking pin can be seen there also. Likely a simple planetary gear reduction unit. Rare as hen's teeth!

Hi Will Looking good, much stronger than the original. Are you aware of the trailer socket that should be in the centre at the bottom of the panel?

John

That seems like something you should have John. Being it's in your back yard, only 7 hrs down the road, you'd
save a bunch on shipping.
Heck, you're going that way anyways, to get the green Elf. You might as well grab those hubs. AND, you get that
Gutbrod for free, to boot.

Update.

Well, pretty exciting day.
I started reassembly. At times, I was so excited, I felt like Buddy. (at the 33 second mark) :D

Here's what I got done this aft.I had a couple snags, but got them sorted out.
Brake return spring broke. (found a replacement)
Seat spring riser was to thick.(table saw fixed that)
It's starting to look like a tractor again.
