I hear ya Old Buzzard, our '72 pushes 6- 10 MPG,,, depending on the way we drive it. Price of gas is , well, just the price of gas.

A week and a half ago, it was $3.89. It's "down to" $3.59. Still about $2 a gal higher than it needs to be IMHO.

Good call on waiting the storm out. You'd be driving on two wheels half the time in 50 mph cross winds.

Well, we DO keep an eye on gas prices. We ain't exactly what you would call rich. :D

While it does cost a lot in gas, that cost is offset by not having to stay in motels and eating in restaurants.

On a long trip like this, or a weeks vacation, it really isn't all that much different in cost than going by automobile.

We ain't rich either, an the cost of traveling by motorhome sure can be offset by not paying for motels, , or high cost meals. One of the best soups I made was while Mr's M was driving. The soup I made fed us for 3 days, I made it while she was doing 75 mph....Sweet!

just to add--- I / we put 10K miles on ours this year, our first year of RV-ing. We look forward to many more years.
