Are you planning to restore it with all original paint and decals?

Welcome! I hope to be close to the right colors. I have a tendency to get away from 'stock' colors. :bigrofl: It will have some of the decals, not sure what all we can get at this point..
My friend Steve got the hood stripped yesterday so we could start over on it. Hopefully, we'll get back to making progress soon. I may let him do most of the sheet metal so I can get into the frame. Still lots to do.

Well, the GT 18 is no longer mine. Steve has been wanting a tractor of his own for some time. Since he has been here helping me an awful lot, I decided to give the tractor to him. I will keep the thread going as we make progress on it. He got the hood ready to start the stripes again, it's primed and the Orange is back on. He also got the side panels ready for paint. I am going to be stripping the rest of the tractor down so the frame can be painted and the 'new' transaxle can be installed. I do get the AG's for the Ford. We have a ways to go, but he will have a tractor he will be very proud of.
I will see about getting him to join the forum and maybe the club also. He has a lot to learn about the tractor, but learns quickly. And he does a whole lot better with paint and body work than me. I just don't take the time he does to make it really nice.

Way to bring a new tractor addict into the fold. Good call on hanging on to the AGs though.

AG's are on the Ford. The hood and side panels are painted. I got the broken transaxle out this afternoon. I'll finish stripping it down tomorrow. Pics then!

Well, we didn't realize the GT 18 had termites. This is all that is left:

:bigrofl:
Guess you could say this is a 'frame off' restoration in progress!

90% of the paint is on, but the wind is not favorable for much of that today. I still have to tear down the front axle assembly and go through it. I just ordered some goodies from Sears for it, $85 worth. Mostly new bushings, few of the thin washers they use. Rain tomorrow, then work gets in the way again.

Wind is gonna start here tonight & be really windy tomorrow. 75F tomorrow, but the wind kind of spoils it.

The wind today was upwards of 40 MPH at times, at least 35MPH most of the day. I got the front axle assy. tore apart. Needed a new bushing in the axle center pivot. Sears' new improved bushing is nylon. Not for me. Found a drill bushing at McMaster-Carr that will fit. Much better! I think I will drill the center bolt and install a grease zerk. Stop a bunch of this undue wear.

Not much of an update. Weather put a hold on things. Also waiting for parts. I ordered some new bushings from Sears, may be a week before I get them. Also, on hold, is the front axle assy. Waiting for word from bhts on spindles. We do have some clear on the silver parts.

I got some of the parts in, the others are on the way. Still haven't found spindles, may have to rebuild what I have.

Got a little GT time today finally! I have this much of the frame back together.

The last pic is one of the decals we were able to save. I'm still cleaning bolts and painting them, but it's coming together.
