It won't be a rush job, Casey. Paint will probably be next spring. But I can use some pieces off the parts tractor to make it look better.

It's a B&S 18 HP, Brian. Tomorrow, I get to play with it! WooHoo!

Always a fun time. I played with the DragonFly today and lost the key somehow. Oh well I have plenty more keys

Having a hard time sleeping, but that's because I ache all over for this weeks work. Up and down a ladder 30 X a day does that! Plus, I've used up a 5 gal. bucket of sheet rock mud in 2 days. Just don't do this often enough to keep things loosened up. Working on the tractor will be relaxing!

I could use a couple shots of 'liquid pain killer'. Maybe that would put me in La La Land. But there's none in the house.

None here either, but then it would make my stomach feel worse than it does already. Alcohol & me don't get along well. Not a moral thing for me, just doesn't suit my system I guess. But if it would put me out, I'd take a few shots right about now! :smilewink:

Purely for 'medicinal purposes' only, Daniel. LOL I've abused these old joints over the years and they are telling me about it now!

Those are some rare tires. Straight-lug Tru Powers. Probably manufactured in between the period of when Carlisle bought the mold from one of the other tire companies.

Good info to know on the tires. They are in great shape. Hope to get them swapped and filled soon. Since the GT 18 will see lighter duties, turfs will be good for it. I do have chains for them, though.

It lives! I got out this morning and started going over things. Pulled the mower deck. I am going to need some parts, Casey, if your deck has them. Here's the deck pics:

Image018.jpg
As you can see the deck hangers are worn real bad on the front, plus I am missing 3 of the 4 springs for these. Pulled the cover and it was full of debris. But the pulleys all look fairly new. Belt is in good shape. No rusted through spots.
I got the Ford out and pulled the parts tractor up beside this one.
Image019.jpg
I proceeded to pull the hood of both. Guess what I found lurking in side the parts tractor? Another 18 HP engine. This one runs, but does have a knock. Once I got the engine out, I pulled the starter off and took it apart to free it up. Many years of sitting had it needing a good cleaning and a bit of lube. Put the starter back on, set it into the new tractor and bolted it down. Hooked everything back up, poured some gas down the carb and it fired off. Had to keep feeding it gas, but it ran.
I found several differences. One being the engine mounting plates. Parts tractor is set down about 1.5", new one is flat. Parts engine has a two piece intake, other one piece cast. Carb venturi is bigger on the new one by about an 1/8" dia.

Here's a pic of the parts hood/grille on it. I will change to the dual headlight grille though.Image025.jpg

Kenny, I have a question... why if you have to swap transmissions would you swap engines?

As for deck hanger stuff I do have them. Two spindles are froze, center one not sure yet. Then, I do need to figure out what to do for the engine on mine (broke off head bolt) and I did not test anything today. I put the hood on it again cause the head is off and it decided it would be cold and rainy today (good thing it is aluminum block. Anyway, if I can't save mine's 18 horse Briggs I will be repowering it with the 13 Hp Honda clone I have. Will require flipping the drive belt though. We will see what happens soon I guess. My biggest thing will be the front axle, I might need one with the hanger, as mine has tons of slack.
