My 990 had the simple slip on wheels with bushings. I now have diff spindles and the three bolt hub type wheels. Axle is all rebuilt and painted now. Taking wheels/tires in to exchange soon. Was looking at mounting of wheels and had question. Bolt holes have quite a taper to them. The nuts are also tapered. The spindles seem to have a hollow area around each stud. I was thinking the tapers on wheels go into those hollows and nut follows up and goes IN to the taper on wheel. BUT, when looking at paint on wheels, seems the wheel has the big taper sticking OUTSIDE and the nuts go into those tapers, even tho the would seem to be above the wheel surface that way, not down into the wheel metal. Clear as Mudd? Also with the tapers out, the tire stems are on outside. SO, that sounds correct? It was backwards from what I would have bolted up before thinking about it.
