How to check the spark, I use to use my fingers when I was a kid. Don't want to do it now. Maybe there is a tool or something that works? My carb is also leaking out the bottom. Not sure want to work first carb or spark? Thanks Leroy

Inline Ignition Spark Checker
Same thing you can get at the hardware store or auto parts

You can rebuild the carb, but by that point you have almost as much into it as getting a chinese carb for a honda or briggs that is all new

The other way to test spark is have someone else turn the key to turn the motor over and have the spark plug threads grounded to the motor and watch to see if you can see spark. If you can't see spark and you know you had the threads grounded then something is bad on it.

Another way is to have a friend hold the plug wire and touch the engine with his other hand.
Then you turn the key
If you see any involuntary movement out of you ex-friend you can be certain that your ignition system is up to the job.:D:D:D

Ducky, that's almost as fun as charging a condenser and then just laying it down. It's written in stone, someone will come along, pick it up in one hand and grab the wire with the other. Of course, I wouldn't think of doing such a cruel thing as that.

My Grandpa worked all his life on engines, on his own, for our DOT, etc. He would grab a wire and hold it, watching the muscels on the back of his hand to see how hot the spark was... I made the mistake 1 time of Saying "no spark huh?" when I saw him do this... he said not much... here you try. Darned near punched myself when my hand jerked back. Ahhh, family
