Ok, so I was given this Allis Chalmers Big Ten to work on. Turns out it has no spark. The guy that I got it from gave me an aftermarket Magnatron or so he said for it. I took it out of the box and I don't see any resemblance to the original. I was wondering if any of you guys had seen one of these? This B&S has points by the way.

I haven't seen one like the aftermarket. I just replaced 2 Magnatron's on a Murray that the battery shorted while it was running.

Looks like a Wilco coil that would fit Models 9, 14, 19, 2, 23, 23A, 23B, 23F, 23P & 23R

Arti is correct, that won't work on your coil. Thats for a much older coil. I just bought one for my 52 Briggs 9FB, in my sons 52 Bantam 3000 garden tractor, and its working great.

From looking at your third pic, I see that the Magnetron armature was mounted backwards. You won't get any spark with it mounted like that. Also, if the flywheel has not been re-polarized the engine will never run like it should using the Magnetron armature.

Others have already identified the coil shown in the second pick.

How was the blower housing removed with the engine still in the tractor? Without the blower housing, cylinder shield and cylinder head cover the engine is going to overheat when you do get it running.

Ok, I will try and turn it around. That was the way it came to me. How do you go about polarizing the flywheel? I have no idea how they got the blower housing off with the engine in. It came with it off. I just want too see if I can get spark before putting it back on.

I have a 10 hp B&S model 243431 and I added NOVA II electronic ignition to replace the points and condenser. I didn't need a magnetron and I didn't repolarize the flywheel. You should, however, have a good coil .
