I was wondering what the aftermarket equivalent of the OE MF10/12 ignition switch is. The original was a 4 spade marked D,S,B and C. The original switch was made by INDAK, not Massey Ferguson.

I think the replacement switch is a 5 wire unit that accepts the oringinal 3 wire connector and single spade. One terminal is unused. The MF10 diesel had a 5wire one back when it was a gas burner and it worked fine. It was working with the original wiring harness and was unmodified.

The reason this came up was the 10G I just bought wouldn't shut off with the key. The harness is fudged and has an automotive type key switch and then had a seperate headlight switch which grounded the kill wire. The headlight switch mess was bad so I am grounding the kill wire to the dash for now. I have an decent wiring harness one the parts tractor but this switch isn't looking so good.

Looking back in my notes on my mf10 and mf12 a Stens #430070 this is an Indak switch (5 prong) that I think will work, might be worth checking out. It is also the same as the Lesco 050102, JDeere AM102544, and Gravely 044767. At least thats what I have in my info.

Whatever switch you find, make absolutely sure it is a ground to kill, not power to run kind of switch. Lots of CDI units have met an early demise because of the wrong switch.

Well, I looked at that switch today at the local auto parts store. It is not supposed to be for mag ignition with that number. There is no "M" terminal. FWIW, the new 5 prong switch needs to have a "L" terminal for the lights.

I think you can still buy that from a Massey dealer.

I checked, although they are discontinued, 4 were available, $25 each + shipping!, once they're gone that's it. There's going to be a need to find a retrofit switch soon, about everything is half the cost.

I found a 5 terminal switch from a grasshopper application which is $12 and looks like it will work. I haven't had time to fool with it yet.

There are a couple aftermarket Sears switches that would work. You would need to modify the harness a little, but electrically it would work fine.

I realize this is an old thread, but I need to replace my ignition switch on the MF 10. Old switch is Indak 2868906 with 4 blades. I picked up a John Deere AM102544 with 5 blades. Old terminals were marked D, S, B, C. New switch is marked R, S, B, M, and A. How do I wire this thing?

My wires were a red connected to D, white to S, green to B, and another red to C.

This has the CDI ignition and I don't want to fry it.

Many thanks!
Terry
