I picked up a Cub Cadet from my brother-in-law today and need help determining what model number it is. The tag reads 2050047U466300 which when I go to Parts Tree says it is a 149 and then Tractor Data says is a 1973. Problem is it has a Kohler 10HP engine in it and it looks like it has been there a long time. The ID tag is on the differential which should mean it was built before 1974. It has a hydraulic lift on it but not the add on tank type.

It has been sitting behind his barn for several years and when parked there was complete but someone got the starter/generator and some other pieces since he parked it.

The little fellar in #4 rode there on the 20 mile drive.

Thanks,
Bill

Very possible someone blew the original engine and put the 10 HP in there. Could have 10 HP tin on the engine. The rear end could have been changed also, but I don't think so from what I see.

I went through some of this on my 129, the tag was missing. I narrowed mine down to between May and Sep of 1973. In May of '73 the oil pickup tube on the tranny was changed to a single bent tube, and in Sep of '73 the PTO was changed to the type with the brake.

Also on the WF Cubs the Hyd res is in the transmission. Remove the cover in the middle and you should see the lines.

I would say that is a 149 because of the hydro lift. Like Kenny said somebody probably swapped engines at one point.

I initially thought it was a 109 due to the 10 hp engine and hood markings but agree that it is probably a 149. For right now it will go into the storage building I rent from my SIL then I'll dig it out in the spring to fix up to sell.

Thanks for the replies.

You boys are all correct. The machine code is 0047 which is the code for a 149. Somewhere in life it had a heart transplant.
