Woke up this morning to find the first measurable snow of the season and to reaffirm my hate for winter. Five months of walking like a penguin, being a prisoner in my own home except for snow removal detail, which includes cleaning snow off the truck for the wife.

Looks like the tomato plants are done for so back to store boughts for seven months or so.

I've got one word for you Bill,
Snowbird

snow·bird  (snobûrd)
n.
1. Any of several birds, such as the junco and the snow bunting, common in snowy regions.
2. Slang One who moves from a cold to a warm place in the winter.

I feel your pain, but we don't get it quite as hard as you guys seem to.

That white stuff sure cools things off doesn't it...

No snow in my area yet but another frost last nite.. I hope everyone is more prepared for winter than we are.

Lived here for over 60 years and I still don't know that winter was coming !!!!

I hate winter also and i live in the south. We dont get much snow but sure does rain a lot. We are going down to 38 tonight and that is cold for us it was 80 two days ago. We will get a good southern breeze from the gulf and should warm up by mid week.

It was 80 here yesterday and to day we barely made it to 68. Had to break out the leather's to go to a MC rally today. I'm with you Bill I hate winter as well. Like JMS we don't get much snow but the dark sky and cold wet rain just doesn't get it. It is supposed to warm up about mid week.

I've got one word for you Bill,
Snowbird

If I had my druthers I would winter in the Ft Knox, KY area but I would miss the kids and grandkids so I'll put up with the cold until I can pick the right six numbers.

That's odd since my folks came from Northern Kentucky to the Pontiac area to work at the Pontiac auto plants.

I'm not crazy for snow or winter either , makes me want to just stay inside and watch tv instead of doing even fun stuff in the garage .

We went into the 40's this weekend.... go figure for Central TX. Kicked the house heater on to run the chill out, and aparently from the Summer A/C problems the heater dosn't work right. The heating elements come on, but the blower dosnt unless I set it to manual. it also kicks off before reaching the thermastat temp. Guess a nother call to the A/C guy :mad2:

I'm not ready, either! But, boy! We sure do need the moisture. One guy told me today that he hired a guy to bury some concrete with a back hoe. He dug down fifteen feet and found no moisture. Rock hard!

Well, it's coming, and there's nothing we can do about it.
Embrace it.
Think of all the nice things about winter.

Let us know if you can think of any.

Oh, just thought of one.

We didn't have a winter last year so I am looking forward to some chilly weather. Maybe I will even have to break out the long pants. I have been in shorts since ummmm last feburary.

Been raining, sleeting and snowing off and on for the past 5 days an supposed to keep doing it for most of this week. I have been waiting for decent weather so I can try the moldboard plow on the JD140 but too muddy now.
