Well they both now well ! Spindles and tensioner stuffs are interchangeable . Pulleys are NOT! ( unless you have a ton of HP ! I have a bunch of pics show in the differences. First and most important it the drive pulleys holy horsepower batman! It run my diesel in low range right out of poop! With the smaller of the 2!
The belts too are very different in length and takes a pretty long one for the pto even with the smaller pulley.
Obviously the spindle belt is longer but I never gave thought that the drive spindle would be as far ahead as it is. This kept the grass out of the radiator!
These decks are HEAVY! Yet surprisingly flimsy so don't hit anything or you will be fixing it ! And keep them clean !!!!!!!! All mine have serious rusting damage at one time . I try to keep them clean and it has not gotten worse thank god. I would love to fine new 50" and 42" shells and start all over . A few more shots I need to wash the 50" off after this ;)

So does the 50" use the larger pulley? I'd like to have one of those decks, but doubt it will happen around here.
I notice your model # stickers are in bad shape. I found some I plan to get for my stuff. They are $8.00 each, but that gets the # you want on there.

These can be found here. You have to call him and give him the # you want on it.

The larger pulley is supposed to be on the 50" decks , actually all the pulleys are larger on the 50 . I'll measure them later, right now I'm cooking a Swedish apple pie ohhhhh yummy!!!!!!!!

Brian, those I haven't found as yet. I just went out and looked to see if this could be used in place, but it is different. You might be able to get one of these decals, cut the # out of it and stick over your existing plate.

Keith, I'll be right over for some of that pie! That looks plumb YUMMY!

I have the 50" so can't chime in on the 48", But will be willing to measure Pully's and belt lengths if needed.

OK pulley sizes for the 42" deck are all the same size at 4.5" ( belt may ride on a slightly smaller dial. But you get the gist. Now the 50" deck gets wild! The pto driven pulley ,( the one bolted on with 3 bolts) is 5.75" across and the 3 spindle pulleys are 4.93" (4-15/16). Andwhen you put a 4.5" pulley were the 5.75" one goes..... man does it take power to turn it! Lesson learned.... not sure on belt llengths because my diesel takes a 3" longer belt because the engine is 1.5" forward of the normal location thus the mule is as well.
