is that a rattle snake? up here in canada we have missasauga rattlers,different markings, but i have not seen one in over 40 years

Bull -Snake? Where is Ryan, he knows snakes?
I think the cat may have had more than it was ready for...

Copper-head would qualify as "the only good one is a dead one if it was near my house" sorry if that offends somebody, but NO poisonous snakes or spiders are welcome near my family, ever!

Thanks for those great photographs. The cat's tail is puffed and the copperhead is coiled back, ready to strike. Could have been bad for the cat.

Glad things came out well for all but the poisonous one.

Cats are pretty dang quick. I have seen a cat kill big snakes before. It is a pretty scary dance. Unlike the Rottweiler I used to have that would just run in at 100 MPH and grab the snake in the middle and shake it to death. That was something to watch.
