It's possible, I've bought new/larger mowers for less.

Not so much. I would rather have a 200 series over that one.

I have a JD 165 that I mow with all the time, my uncle bought it new and gave it to me last year when he sold his farm. I have used it here in Fla for a year now with no problems.

They are the replacement for the 116 series with a few small changes. Frames are the same, switched to the Kawasaki engine, a new hood, and a few other minor updates. Good mowers and if you can find one with low hours and well kept, then YES it would be a fair price. Not a steal but well worth the money if all you intend to do is mow lawn or blow snow.

If it's a Hydro I would steer clear of it.I mow with one every week and the hydro is super weak on it.It won't pull a loaded lawn sweeper unless I only let it get 1/2 full. Then it still groans when going up a slight incline. This machine has 338 hours on it and is regularly serviced (Yearly) at a John Deere dealer since new.

It does mow pretty good and it steers tight.

The seat will want to move back on it's own unless you take the slider off and bend the stupid catch down a bit more.As far as dependability,it's been a good machine to mow with.Just don't expect to do anything but mow with it or you will burn up the rear end.
