Went to a garage sale this weekend and this wheel horse was for sale at $2500.00. It was a indy 500 special in all original condition other than a poor repaint and 1 belt. the mower ran very good and everything operated as it should. I am by no means a wheel horse collector but was wanting to get imput from you guys. Are these machines worth this kind of money and is it a fair price forthis mower?
The model was made in 1968. It had no visable rust issues and looked to be well kept.

That's a nice one but a lot of $. If I was looking for a working tractor I couldn't justify the cost but if you want it to show and collect then it's a different decision.

WOW!!! THats way more than it is worth. They were made to advertise the indy 500 but were not used in one. They did however make some tractors that were used in the indy 500 and had white wall tires. Those tires are very hard to find and I think they are worth about 2500 bucks! Kelly hollister has a set of those tires( not sure if he is a member on here or not) I would say that tractor that you found is worth 400 maybe 500 at the most. There actually a pretty common tractor. ~Jake

The guy who is selling that for $2,500 is NUTS!!!!!! Like Jake said, one in that condition is not worth over $400 or $500.

well thanks for everyones opinion. I thought it sounded outrages but did not have any knowledge on the model so who knows, maybe it was a limited edition and rare? I could not afford it either way but thought maybe one of you guys would be interested if it was a collectable model. Thanks again for the imput.

Wow..........I am not suprised. It seems there is a tractor somewhat like that one that comes up either on CL, Ebay, or a sale of some sort that is outrageously priced. I hope he keeps it......obviously he thinks it is very special to him.

$2500 bucks..... :deadhorse: Not a chance!

Twenty five hundred could purchase a herd of Stallions! Four, five, maybe even six hundred
if your heart is set on the Special.

Paid $300 for my '68 Raider 12, delivered. Replaced the gas tank to the original steel tank, paint (RustOleum) Regal Red, wheels painted, a few other items including new decal set, still under $450. Runs great.

lets see,500 for tractor, 2000 for indy 500 stickers. ive had 2 of them and thats the only difference i could see was the stickers on it. a lil overpriced.
