Knee jerk impression is an AC 920, but you said it's a 16 hp... Did Simplicity make a version of a 916 with an Onan?

The hood and grill remind me of a gilson built machine. No idea other than that but it is a nice looking tractor!

I'm going with a MTD 996. But the wheels and engine aren't stock. That's my guess.

Yes, it looks like the GT that MTD did for White. The wheels make it look very nice.

It is sharp. Has hydraulic three point as well. The tires, in case I confused anyone, are 15 inch RIM.

I'm going with that as well. If the tractor was originally 16hp, the only other option is a 994 and those had the different "White " grill.
But.... as far as I know, MTD never used Onan engines in these??? If the tractor wasn't a 16hp model it could be several other models.

I'd also like to know what they're using for front hubs as the original setup didn't have hubs. I'm assuming the rear wheels are five lug to use those wheels? If so they must have swapped out the rear hubs. If the rear wheels are 4 lug, I'd like to know where they got them or what application they came from.

It's definitely an MTD 99x series.
.... with quite a few mods. The more I look, the more stuff I see. The rear seat/fender pan is not from that series tractor, might not even be MTD.
The lift lever and hydro drive lever appear to be correct.

Is this thread because you've found a tractor that you want to learn about or do you already know and want us to guess?

It's a tractor I found on the net and I'm curious about. The seller doesn't say what it is, I'm intrigued by the size and the hydraulic lift. I'll probably call the seller today and see what I can find out. It looks like quite a tractor.

I am not up on my MTD stuff. I have never seen a GT frame that beefy. Rear pan looks like a chopped YT16 ford. Hood and grille are gilson. Even my LGT195 does not have bolt on front wheels, never seen a GT that did (PKs maybe)

My call is... homebrew

Called the seller. Turns out he is selling off some stuff in an estate, and nobody knows what it is. He HAS looked from end to end. He knows the rims were made by the original owner, and says he thinks the transmission is a Peerless hydro, shaft driven. So, it has probably had some mods, who knows how many. But he thinks he has a firm buyer, I'll probably check again after the weekend.

Correct, Peerless 2500 series transaxle with an Eaton hydrostatic unit and shaft drive. It's hard to see from the pictures but the main mods I see are the front and rear wheels (althought the rears were 15" stock,) the rear fenders / seat pan, and probably the engine.

...does not have bolt on front wheels, never seen a GT that did (PKs maybe)

Althought the later MTD 99x series like this one didn't have bolt on front wheels, the earlier '70s 990s did. They had a hub mounted to the spindle and used a 3 bolt wheel.
