I'm glad to hear that things are going well so far. I hope that a repair to the valve rather than a replacement is a good sign. It sounds like the folks at the hospital are on top of things. You and your wife will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.

They had my wife up and using a walker today but when I got there she was just in a reclining chair , still in post-op , She said she felt pretty good ( pumped up with pain meds.) but her throat was very sore they said she has a virus in it . That bummed her a little . can't keep anything down when she tries to swallow . Thanks for all the support , Al

Tell her a big group of tractor nuts are pulling for her! She'll recover fine I'm sure, but for her I know it will seem slow even if it is fast.

Just read the thread for the first time. Glad she is out of surgery and that it went well. My mother in law had a valve replacement about 3 weeks ago. She has had a few set backs but is starting to gain her strength. Part of the recovery process can have afew bumps along the way. I will keep your wife in my prayers.

Thanks for the update Al. Sounds like things are on the right track. I'm sure progress may seem slow at first, but each small improvement can turn into a giant step forward. Thoughts and prayers are still with you and your wife.

I'm sorry to hear that things seem to be going more slowly than you'd like, but we're all pulling for her here and you're both in our prayers! A good friend of mine had a valve repair 2 years ago and was back to work in 3 months. I hope that she's able to keep something down soon Al.

The infection in the throat is common from the ventilator tubing, and PAINFUL, as Newpaws said be ready with the ice chips when she can. Glad she is on the mend, will continue prayers for both of you.
