Don't even ask what happens when the hitch comes unhooked while riding. Here is a clue. The throttle is on the handle bar and you squeeze it to go faster :rofl2:

I know at least one person that this happened to.

Throttle is on the left and the brake is on the right I bet that did not help....

There are a bunch of pictures in the auction listing now.

I take it that the seller lives in Framingham but the DR is located in a barn in Hollis. "They" could refer to the traction unit and the seat/sled. I don't think it's a scam, myself.

Second to last picture is a shot under the hood. I can see the clutches on the left and rope pull on the right, but where is the cylinder?

Hmmm... actually it looks like the seller has TWO Bolens snowmobiles. He has the Diablo Rouge as well as this older looking yellow Hus-ski:

They are probably in the same barn in NH... They are both around the same price now, but is the Diablo worth more then and/or is more collectible?

Looks like a Bolens 1000 tractor with attachments came from that barn, too...

$200 so far, and I spy a York rake. He says "snow attachments" which would include he plow and blower, but the rake probably goes with it as well.

Here's what I was able to find:

Hus Ski / Diablo Rouge Background
Hus Ski Limitee of Pointe-Claire, Quebec, Canada
Proto-types 1957-58
Production 1962-65 (under the Hus Ski badge)

Purchased (summer 1965) by Bolens of Wisconsin, Port Washington Wi., a Division of Food Machine Corp. Badged as Bolens Hus Ski to 1966/67 when the Canadian production operations closed and amalgamated to one operation in Wisconsin. John Smeaton (long time designer/employee of Hus Ski) formed Carlton Products Consultants Ltd. upon closing of the Canadian division and teamed with Fred Fassbender. The two remained the design/management team for Bolens.

The Bolens Diablo Rouge was produced 1967-69. The two-piece machine as we know stopped production after the 1969 model year.

Hus Ski Snow Traveller built in 1962-63 utilized a 10hp West Bend Motor.
Hus Ski Model 200 built in 1963-64 utilized a 8hp JLO Motor.
Hus Ski Model 400 built in 1963-64 utilized a 10.4hp JLO Motor.
Hus Ski Model 200A built in 1964-65 utilized a 8hp JLO Motor.
Hus SKi Model 600 built in 1964-65 utilized a 10.4hp JLO Motor.

Bolens Hus Ski Model 444 built in 1965-66 utilized a 10.4hp JLO Motor.

Bolens Diablo Rouge Model 500 built in 1967 utilized a 16hp Hirth Motor.
Bolens Diablo Rouge Model 502 built in 1968-69 utilized a 16hp Hirth Motor.
Bolens Diablo Rouge Model 503 built in 1968-69 utilized a 16hp Hirth Motor with electric start.

That is simply awesome. Never saw one before and NH is too far for me at the moment to drive. I think I will keep these in the back of my mind as in a few years, wouldn't mind owning one.

Haha, yeah... gotta love the extra hood mounted headlights/spotlights he put on it. I guess he did a lot of snow plowing in the dark then? :bigrofl:
I might actually consider buying it for $200 just to get the snowcaster and the wheel weights and chains. Those look in actually pretty decent condition. As for the Bolens 1000 itself... I'm not so sure. Engine probably won't run without a bit of work after sitting for several years (probably over 10 years from the looks of all the dust and dirt all over everything he has in that barn...).

On eBay:

http://www.ebay.com/...=item4abc56947f

Wow! Looks like it did go for over $500! Of course, this was after the seller actually posted better photos of it at least... As for the other items he is selling out of that barn, we'll have to see where those go on price as well. Did anyone on this board end up with any of these? Just curious... I'd love to follow the restoration of one of these things...
