I made a tailgate for one of my trailers a few years ago. I used expanded steel for the filler and, I could not haul dirt because it would just fall through. I made a solid plate out of aluminum today. Now I can use it to haul anything.

Bud, Here is the trailer that the tailgate goes on. It was a vacuum bagger trailer. I sold the bagger assembly but, kept the trailer. The trailer is going to be completely restored this coming Spring, Lord willing.

Great tailgate build. I have that same trailer in my fleet as the Allis Chalmers version, complete with gate, more dents, and more rust lol. Handy little wagon it is, and boy will it haul a load of shingles, had 8 bundles in it (perfect fit two stacks).
