I mentioned in one of the 'Show Report' threads that I bought another Bolens whilst there.

Well folks, the seller delivered it today.

Here's CloudBurst IX. It's a bit of a "FrankenBolens". I'll leave it up to you folks to figure out what is "wrong" with it. I will ask "Doc" Bolens to hold off for a bit, because I know he will find it almost instantly.

Another question is the wheel weights. They look almost identical to the Bolens weights but have OLDA cast into them. Anyone have any info on these?

I think I found whats wrong. They aren't supposed to have a six speed rear end right?

Right. The OP had trans problems, and it ended up being less $$ at the time to transplant a used 1050 trans.

While not 'original' that does give me the controlled differential that the G11 lacks. Plus it's now effectively a 12-spd.

The guy also included some 'paper work' which included the "Safety and Operation Instructions" manual for the 18538 snowcaster.

I checked in the manuals section and that one is not there. I'll scan and upload it, as Operators Manuals always seem to be harder to find than the parts ones.

Wilber, it's been really strange. It seems like these rascals just drop out of the sky on me.

Well, now that we know the correct way to read serial numbers from 1973 and up you can see you got some pretty low numbers.

CB VI = 721
CB VII= 195
CB IX= 128

Yeah it did....wasn't WHEN it was delivered but rained earlier today, and it rained at the show on Friday when I made the deal.

I figure that's enough for it to qualify for the CloudBurst name :D :D :D

That's great. Congratulations on number three. Looks pretty good even if it has a little bit of Frankenstein in it.

The numbers I posted were the actual production numbers after "Decoding" the serial number. Since they all started at 101 you just subtract that to get the actual production number...

Here's a sheet I found that explains how to read the serial numbers from 1973+
