OK...heres the deal...I picked up an old David Bradley plow this morning ($40)....I want to hook it to the back of one of my Ford LGTs......The question is, where should it sit in relation to the wheels so that the tires will run in the furrow?...To the left, to the right, in the center?...For reference, I am going to measure from the cutting wheel. In these pictures, it is just set behind the tractor to show what I am asking.

The 3rd picture from the top is real close to the proper location
If the plow is 8" cut then the coulter should be 8" toward the center of the tractor from the inside of the right rear wheel.
from the picture it appears that the plow should be move toward the center line of the tractor.

O K...Thats cool.....I measured and the mounting point is 3 inches in from the tire.......Not sure what size the plow is, I am not sure how to measure that......I guess my best bet is to make something that is adjustable as to where it is going to sit.

Here is the correct way to measure a plow:

This is how plow show follow the tractor. The drawing isn't best.

I like to have the outside cutting edge overlap the previous turned soil by 1/2 to 1 inch.

By the looks of your plow it is an 6 inch or 8 inch plow.

Thanks Merk....I measured where you said and it is just better than 6 inches.......Does that mean that the cutting wheel of the plow should be 6 inches inside the tire?...I cant read what the top of your drawing said.

You would want to pull it in a bit closer than that, like around 5" inside the tire. 2 reasons....one is to get a bit of overlap for a cleaner furrow, the other is because of deflection of the plow. I have seen plows deflect (bend/flex) as much as 2". It's better if you can make your attachment point adjustable, so if you need to tweak things to get it to plow right, you can do so easily.

OK...with the deflection, I guess I should mount it in closer to the back of the tractor then?......That bar on it is quite long.

I think this is how mine is set up also.
EDIT: put the plows on & measured. The plow sits 1/2 inch shy of it's "size" from the inside of the tire. With a 10" plow, the point rides 9.5 inches from the inside of my tire.
