Differential Level Check

I know the differential should have 2 pints of 80/90 gear lube in it. Mine has clean fluid in it but having just bought it I want to make sure it is full. Should the diff be filled until it just starts to spill from the fill hole? I really don't want to pop the diff cover off if I don't have to. Thanks

I think if you can touch the oil with your pinky you'll be safe . That's all I've ever done with mine ,Al
