I will be going to look at a couple of Bolens walk behinds tonite. The guy said he's got one with a grille on the front with a crack in it. My question is are they aluminum grilles or a alloy combination? Just wondering if anybody has tried to weld one up before and how it turned out.

Depending on model/ year they used aluminum and cast iron grilles.
(Aluminum was the most common )
Seems 9 times out of 10 there is at least one crack in the grilles on these walk behinds

Well I think she's alittle to far gone to get her back going again. The grille is cracked all the way across, so I think it'll be a good test sample to see if I can get it welded up. But at least I got another Power Ho thats in good condition. Just needs the carb cleaned a bit, I think. Pops a little so shouldn't take to much to get it running.006.JPG 004.JPG 003.JPG 002.JPG 001.JPG

I'm thinkin the Versa-Matic is going to be a parts tractor. The motors tight, rust hole in the gas tank, the pulleys are rusted tight, and motor is missing parts. Just have to wait and get another one. It can sit back in the shed with the rest of the "one of this days" projects.

You'll have to let me know if you do. Your only about a 6 hour ride from me. Its not that I don't want to fix it, I'm thinking it's going to need a block. All the holes around the exhaust port the treads are rusted and gone and I don't know if they can be repaired. The more I look at it the more I want to get it going again! I guess that itch is never going away, the "GT itch" that is :laughingteeth:

The numbers off the Versa-Matic Type 15FD01 Serial F 83099
And the Power Ho serial 46104993 which doesn't make alot of sence compared to my other two. This one has two more digits than the other ones.
