The rebuild was actually done 2-3 years ago. He had started to refurbish it. Blasted and repainted the rims, new rubber, rebuild on the smoky old Onan, new hydraulic hoses, repacked all but one of the leaky cylinders... then he lost interest. But he has kept using it occasionally.
I'm thinking that I'll offer him 3500 and see how firm he is on the price.

Well I am now a proud owner of Case 648 Loader Backhoe!

I have a customer who has a 750 John deere FWA with loader.  Its been in his shop for 11 years, then it was complete needing a clutch.  Now its partially dis assembled to repair the clutch.  He said last time he worked on it was 7 years ago.  Iv'e been bugging him to sell it to me for the last 3 years.

I see some of you have been successful acquiring a machine after lot longer.  So now I have new hope.

Good to see it is at least under cover. Good luck and stay persistent.
