Dad picked up his new to him 169 and I have it in the shop. The wiring is a mess and I downloaded the parts and service manuals here on the site. I question I have is that the engine we have in this tractor is direct drive starter with internal alternator. The parts and service manuals only show wiring diagrams for a starter/generator engine. With this model only being made 1 or 2 years, did they change from one style starter to the other during this time.

It also has a electronic PTO clutch.

Without going into serious detective work, I would agree with Pat.

I would also guess the engine has been changed. Try looking at the wiring schematic for a 1650 and see how that works for you.

It should have a S/G setup and manual PTO clutch. Some 169's came with manual lift, they should f had hyd, but IH was short on them.

I will take a few shots of it tomorrow. It has the manual clutch handle, but an electric clutch. I am going to have to rewire I guess.

Here is a color wiring diagram. Might help with the rewire.

I am going to have to wire just like the 1650, everything is there including the hour meter.

The one I am working on has the starter/generator and it is one of the last ones made by the serial number but who knows haw many changers were made to it in the several decades after it was built.
