My wife comes home yesterday and starts telling me about what a co worker told her. This co worker [25 yr old girl ]also holds a second job as a gas station clerk. This is what she told my wife.Did you know that if you add water to your cars gas tank you'll beable to drive further. She then went on to tell my wife that if your ever low on gas and scared you won't beable to make it home just add a bit of water to your tank. She also told my wife not to do it to a diesel.I'am thinking to myself who in the heck told her this.Did she not take sience in school.Put water in gas/oil the water settles on the bottom.Freezing weather the water freezes.I kinda told my wife that she better never do this and proceded to tell her about water in gas, like I told my wife if you have a fire don't you put water on it to put it out.Ouch not good comming from a gas station employee.Looks like there's some gulliable people out there.Larry

Maybe someone tried explaining how the water scavenging effects of ethanol work...

Wonder how many people she told, will tell, etc. Also wonder how her brothers service center is doing, I hear he specializes in fuel system problems.

Ah, more "New Age Thinking"! The scientific "idea" behind this is that by adding water it will raise the level of the gasoline in the tank to the fuel pickup and "you won't run out of gas"... You know, like eating a hot dog in 12 bites instead of 5 will make you feel fuller...

Homer Simpson is based on real people afterall!:D

Problem is she could very well have been valedictorian of her class. :wallbanging:

On a serious note I CAN tell you of a case I know of first hand where that actually worked.

Anyone wanna guess how? :laughingteeth:
It was on a motorcycle with the reserve side of the tank valve plugged with rust. The water raised the level of gas to where the bike got the guy home.
