Have any of you guys seen one of these engines before? A friend of my dads heard I liked restoring old engines, and said he had an old Onan that had been sitting on the shelf of his warehouse for over 30 years that he had bought from an auction. He said it was in like new condition when he bought it. Well, I had a friend in Oklahoma go pick it up for me, but its not an Onan. Its an OMC. I know OMC is involved in boat engine, and puts their name on engines that are manufactured by other companies. That being said, has anyone seen one of these before? The only tag he saw was on the air filter, and it wasn't much help. Please Help! This a very cool looking old engine, I love the cast aluminum blower housing, and the way the exhaust exits through it. It will be here around the 25th of this month, but I would like to know a little more about it before then. :confuse:

Matt

After doing a search on the M200 that you had listed there, I found this engine was used in Cushman Truckster, and Haulster. It appears to be an 18hp. I can't wait for it to get here. Its got to be one of the coolest looking small engines I've ever seen.

Ah, now that makes sense, all I could think of was some old BMW delivery bikes and obviously they wouldn't have been OMC.
Very neat looking unit, gonna be just for show or do you have a purpose for it?

I don't know if you have seen my other thread "Smart Buggy", but I was thinking that might be a good home for this engine. Although this engine is relly neat, and I'm not sure I want to abuse it like that.

It reminded me a bit of the old opposed twins in the OMC snow cruiser snowmobiles back in the 60's. Of course they were 2 strokes.

Oh ya, that might work for a while, but you are gonna need more "big boy" toys...trust me my 5th one is in his last year of college and so far they have all had to move a couple hours away to find solid work which means they keep taking "my toys" with them...Mommas been pretty good about my GT craze because they are way smaller than the fire trucks out in the horse paddock :laughingteeth:

The engine does resemble the four cycle engines in the Cushman three and four wheeled trucksters but I do not remember the big air cleaner housings on them. The ones I have seen were smaller and mounted on the carburetor. I have owned several and worked on more of the old OMS/Johnson snowmoble two cycle engines and when they were running right they were a great engine.
