There is a GT 14 for sale locally. It's not in great shape and I am trying to get some info. on these tractors. We don't have a manual for that model. If anyone can give me an idea if this tractor is worth looking into I'd appreciate it. It's a large GT but other than that I know nothing about it. Wondering what the common problem areas would be etc. Thanks

JD., The GT14 was WH first big frame GT. It could be equipped with a factory 3 PT. Most of the standard WH accessories would fit it , but it had a special 3PT tiller and could use any Cat. "0" accessories. They were a great little GT and I have a few of them. The last one ,I had a Ark 500 model loader on it and loved, shouldn't have sold it. I never had any real issues them any of them.

Does it have any equipment with it?

Brian, thanks for the info. it only has a mower deck and a owners manual! I think he must be anxious to sell, as he keeps relisting it every time it leaves the first page of Kijiji. It has big wheels on the back, like a MTD990 or a Case 400 series. According to tractordata it weighs 840lbs so it must be a pretty solid outfit.

JD., They had 15 ags or turfs on the rear, turfs still available, but ags are not and when you find them, very costly. They are very heavy built, the front nose piece is cast and has the gas tank up front also. If you can see the gas tank thru the grill, it's a 69 model, if not 70 or later.

Here is a manual for a 1969 GT-14....I have one and am installing a 2nd hydraulic valve and cylinder on the 3 pt lift so it will work independently from the mid-mount lift.
I also bought a later model grill that is solid so the fuel tank is protected.

well i guess i'm the exception but you did ask, in my opinion one of the ugliest wheel horses made Ive only owned two & they were wore out when i got them! If you had a choice & just wanted the hyd lift id much rather go with the 66 model t1276 & add 3pt hitch but its all a matter of what you like i guess neither of the two i owned had down pressure on the lift but i'm not sure if that had been changed b4 i got them or not , I m not totally against the g14 but its just doesn't appeal to my eye like some of the others sorry guys!

That plastic gas tank is one of the few weak poi nts. I've heard of more than one person having to do repairs.

The GT 14 was one of my favorite Wheel Horses....steered easily like it had power steering...the 3 pt tiller was dificult to "hold back" because of the hydro tranny.

Best part was the 54" snow blade w/ hydro lift...

As that model is about 40 years old, be sure to check out the tranny after you work it for a while and get the oil warm...then drive up a small incline to see if you still have plenty of hydro power.

as a collector with 70 plus tractors from farm to garden a tractor is worth what you are willing to pay for it. as i have found you will have more in it than you can sell it for . thing i consider before buying one is it all there and can i find parts and i too have two gt14s paid $60 for one and $165 for the other not running they both run now and are complete just my thoughts.
