Severe storms heading into my area now too, but no tornado warnings, just 70+mph winds possible. Just refreshed radar & looks like it's weakening here. Knocking on my door almost.

When a 7yr old, we were traveling to Colorado to visit my Uncle. Overnight stay at Kansas hotel turned scary. Room doors all on outside of 2 story hotel and the management came to all doors yelling to get to the lobby NOW! Tornado comiong & fast. One woman got blown off the balcony as she tried getting to the stairs. She lived. The hotel pool was full when we got there & empty as could be the next morning. They said the twister sucked the water out. Hotel wasn't damaged too bad, and no glass busted where we all were. The management opened all the snack machines & gave it away. Mostly to calm the kids. I wasn't too scared, but the candy bars sure helped anyway! Closest I came to a tornado but I have seen funnel clouds go over the top of my home a couple times. They've hit within 2 miles of me a few times.

Sounds like it had the makings to be quite scary for a kid,or anybody for that matter.
