My son's birthday is coming up & I was toying with a magazine subscription on the topic of GT's. Does anyone have any suggestions? Doesn't have to be glossy or have "Tractor Centerfolds", just something he can put in the magazine rack next to everyones favorite chair.

Right now, I don't think that there is a better one than LAGC.... Lawn and Garden Tractor Collector. They are a sponsor on this site as well. Here is a link. LAGC...Lawn and Garden Collector Magazine shares articles about all brands of Vintage Garden Tractors

LAGC is fairly new, having been around for only 3 1/2 years. Overall, the quality of the magazine is quite good. There is certainly room for improvement in a few areas but it appears that the small staff works pretty hard at coming up with a decent issue every two months. LAGC is broad-based and therefore has a wide appeal that should attract anyone who is interested in the old iron. There are other publications out there that are brand specific and that's fine for those who are into collecting just one marque. However, every brand brings something to the table and I find it interesting to learn about how some brands tried to solve certain problems so they would stand out amongst the competition.

You will also find articles about restoration that were written by the people that actually conducted the work. There are other articles that deal with tips about engines and since many brands often used the same engine manufacturer, those articles are quite useful. I have been a subscriber since the first year LAGC appeared on the scene and fortunately, have all of the issues, which I keep stacked flat in a cabinet behind me. Since then, I have recommended this publication many times to members of this forum and several other forums. I haven't had anyone come back and say that the magazine turned out to be a waste of their money. Many people expressed how pleased they were with their first issue and then attempted to obtain all of the back issues that were still available.

It think that those actions speak rather well for this publication and if your son is developing an interest in the hobby, then he will find ample "tractor porn" within the pages of LAGC to keep him fantasizing until the next issue arrives.

I've subscribed to LAGC when Brandon just had the all JD magazine, later combined into LAGC. A very good choice for the garden tractor hobby! ~~ grnspot110

Well, it seems unanimous. LAGC it is... One more Question, And this may be for the site admin... Is there a way for the group to get credit for the subscription, or is linking to it via the homepage enough?

I really don't know myself, but you can always contact Kate & let her know GTT led you to them. Here's a quick link to Kate's page. http://www.gttalk.co...s/tractorchick/

We don't have a link setup that lets them know where the sale came from but if you mention either on the phone or in the comments box if you do an online order that you heard about it from GTT that would be cool.
