Are you sure it is NOS? It looks like it has some LIGHT wear on it, although it very well could be! What is something like that worth? I wonder what he set the reserve at!

What would you even use this for? What attachment needs to be run at 540RPM?

Yes. Like I said, I got a real good look at that one when I as at Rick's picking up some Bolens goodies I had bought from him.

I know what the reserve is, but will not disclose it. Nor, even though I'd like to have it, will I be bidding on it, as I feel that knowing the reserve gives me an unfair advantage.

Lot's of AG stuff works on 540. Hay elevators, grain augers, shellers, grinders, etc. Things that don't need a lot of HP to run. Having a 540 PTO on something like a GT to run those would free up a large tractor to be used for heavier applications.

RoWay made a 540 PTO attachment that mounted on the front of the tube frames. There is a brochure for it in the Bolens manuals section:

Hi Guys,I have the rear pto on E-Bay,wish it was NOS,but is not, used very little,in very nice shape, you won't find many out there, have only ever saw 3 others,I'm sure there are more than that out there, you can run rear mowers and the VERY rare post hole digger, thanks OLD Buzzard for not disclosing the reserve, the reserve is a very fair price for such a rare item, good luck to all that are biding on it,Rick

I did not know you saw it in person. I thought it was something you had seen elsewhere on the internet.

Well, coulda (shucks DID) fooled me :blush2: :blush2:

I certainly didn't see any indications that it had been used, especially on the output shaft. Mounted a time or two, maybe, but I doubt that it has ever actually driven and attachments.

Well, now that it hit it, $650.00 was the reserve price.

Actually, with the rear PTO attachments as rare as they are, I wouldn't be suprised to see it got for more than that.

Damn!!! It's over $650 already? That's more than I'd pay for a good running entire tractor!! But, like you said, it is pretty rare I guess... At least your front PTO pulley wasn't THAT expensive!!

Wilberj, how many of these have you come across,I have been into the Bolens tractors for about 12 years now, have only seen 3 of them, like I said I'm sure there are more than that out there, this one here is the brown color which tells me it is a very early one,I talked with a guy I have known for years now and who has one of the biggest Bolens collections I know of,he told me he has never seen one that was from the 1250,1455,1476,1477 years

I can think of 6 but I know I seen more...
I have seen 2 brown PTO's now with yours the rest were green and one was a 2000 RPM PTO.

I may be wrong about price but if I was you I would be real happy with your giting.. We both know Ebay is were you get the most out of stuff.

Wow,your a lucky guy, must be alot more of that stuff up your way,two others I saw on E-bay did well over $1000.00,like I said in another post if people don't like the prices on E-Bay you don't have to bid,its one of the best sourses for the parts at what I feel is fair priceing in most cases,I will say there is times that things do go a little high, but if its in demand it will sell, after all where are you going to find some of the hard to find stuff,
