I have posted on here before about my big ten not wanting to start hot, and with the advice I got I have decided to replace the coil. I have several questions, so here it goes. (1) What kind of coil do I need, part number size and what not (2) Where should I buy it, what brand and where is it located (I do have a simplicity dealer very close) (3) What kind of pricing should I be looking at. Thanks, and looking forward to hearing yall's advice!

If your engine still has the original style coil and hasn't been switched out to a magnetron coil, then you need a Briggs part #298968. Check your Simplicity dealer for pricing. You could also check online to compare prices.

When my son replaced the coil on his Big 10 he used an automotive coil. Bought it at the local Car Quest parts store. I don't recall if it's an internally or externally ballisted coil. Been running for a few years now with no problem.
