So, I cruised by my local NAPA for some oil filters for the Onan. Buy them there all the time. My #1 parts lady, Debra, knows the part number off the top of her head.

Well, Debra was off, and there stood a newbie. No clue. Looked the NAPA stock # up in the NAPA OPE book. Didn't work in the computer. Knew they keep a half dozen in stock at any time. Asked for the master interchange book, and went back to the NAPA OPE book to find the Onan OEM part #.

About that time my 5th grader says, "I know what you're going to do". He gets the Onan # and crosses it in the master interchange book to find the NAPA filter #. New guy was impressed.

Looks like a parts man job might be in his future !! To help pay his way through school that is.

I saw this thread title and laughed, I've been playing "Are you smarter then a 5th grader" on my I phone for weeks.

Guess what ? It isn't that easy.

I have a hard time with my smart phone these days. I know it's smarter than me. I bet a 5th grader is smarter than me, at least in that respect lol.

Cat, I think since he's using his phone most of the time now, he's missing 1/2 of the posting, blames smaller screen, either that or it's the eye poke's :poke:

Tell your son good job! Common sense is not that common anymore. Good thing you had him along to show the newbie how to do his job...
