Those are great little Briggs engines, I have a a 5-S, a 6-S and a WI as well as an early all aluminum 6-BS that I take to the shows. The 5-S is a rope start, but it starts so easy I like to let the kids give it a try if they seem interested, it is a great way for the kids get their hands on something and try it themselves.

That is a great looking engine! Good luck with the bunch of them!

I don't know what those disks are, somebody will know.

Good deal. I've used oven cleaner on aluminum wheels that were badly corroded. It does strip the surface pretty well, which is good if that's what you want.

Let me know what you think, and if anyone knows where I can get a rebuild kit or decals for it. (The 5-S has no ID tag, so I don't know the specifics.)

The parts are still available from Briggs. A gasket set is part#291376, points #29667, and condenser is #29861.

(MTF is dead, so this is home forum now.) Mark's Tractor Forum dead??? Say it isn't so!!!

Anyone know how to get paint off of blocks fairly easily? Try Dollar Store oven cleaner.

I'm thinking about what I can mount with this motor for it to run... A type of blower? A fan? A lathe? Something else? Ideas appreciated!
