I had a great weekend on Craigslist this weekend. I managed to purchase a Wheel Horse Unidrive tran, 6x12 tires and wheels, matching set of 4.80x8 and wheels, and a beautiful '86 JD 212. I got the trans, wheels, and tires all for $35. The Springfield is now going to sport duals and get a set of matching fronts. I have a 46" blade that I'm in the process of mounting on it also. The 212 was posted for $850 or trade for hydro LT. Well I just happen to have a hydro LT I was looking to part with. I had a JD 115 auto. I emailed the gentleman and he responded immediately. I went to his house tonight and left with this 212 which has now become the primary mower (at least when we get rain hopefully this year). As for the rear I actually got it for the tires that were mounted to it. Although they turned out to be 4x12's. I'm sure I will find some way to use them. Here are some pics.

Congratulations. That 212 is a beauty. If that is original paint it looks like the nicest one I've seen. Recently someone up here was selling a 212 in very good shape for an asking price of 1400. It seems to have sold after a week or so. I guess the PO must have needed a hydro mower for some reason!

The PO said he was tired of changing gears. I wasn't about to argue. I know the deck was repainted. He painted it after replacing the bearings and belts a few months ago. As for the tractor, not really sure. There are some new bolts in it. So I would guess that it has been repainted. If so they did a great job. The thing that shocked me was how quiet it is. I can have conversation while sitting on it with the deck running. Heck my 115 wasn't near that quiet.

One other thing I got out of this that I just saw. The owners manual that I got for the 212 and deck also covers my 112 electric lift I acquired a few weeks back. It covers the lift adjustment and everything else I was searching the net for!

Some nice wheeling and dealing there. The 212 looks great. Is it possible the deck for the 212 came off from an earlier 200 series? I thought the 200 series decks were four guide wheels by 1986? :confuse:

Well the PO was the one who said it was a 1986. After looking at the serial number I think its an '83 or '84. Its late and I cant remember. I spent too much time in the garage tonight sanding and prepping my 112.
